2nd Annual Battle on the Border

The Battle on the Border is a team competition with one male and one female per team. There will be Intermediate and Beginner divisions. The competition will consist of three workouts and a floater WOD as a tiebreaker.

Don’t be scared, it is designed to cater to those who are just getting started on their competitive path!

The categories will be similar to last year. While we haven't set the workouts yet, we do have some standards to help you decide if you should enter as a Beginner or Intermediate. We'll release the WODs over the summer via videos on our YouTube and other social media channels. You can see last year's WODs here

All Athletes: Wall Balls 20/14, Burpees, Rowing, Assault Bike

Intermediate Division: 
Box Jumps 30/24
Ground to overhead 135/95
Kettlebell Swings 53/35
Toes To Bar 
Pull Ups
Double Unders 

Beginners Division
Box Jumps 24/20
Ground to Overhead 105/75
Kettlebell Swings 44/26
Single Unders

This is not the full list of movements in the workouts, however these are guidelines to help you know what division to register for. 

You may not switch divisions once you have registered. You may substitute a teammate prior to the competiion.

3 Rounds
400m run 
21 kettlebell swings 
12 pull-ups 


Both partners will begin the 400m run together. 
The first partner in the door will have to wait for the second partner to finish the 400m run before they can begin their kettlebell swings. 
Both partners must complete 21 kettlebell swings and 12 pull-ups before heading out for their 2nd 400m run (and again before the 3rd 400m run). 

As soon as the 2nd partner finishes their last pullup of Helen, both athletes move onto Grace 

Intermediate Athletes
53/35 lb Kettlebell

All athletes must run


Grace 
30 Clean & Jerks 
Both athletes must complete 30 clean and jerks

Each clean will come from the floor, the athlete must fully open the hips at the finish of the clean before beginning the jerk.

Either a squat or power clean is permitted
Either a push jerk or split jerk is permitted.

The feet must return to the starting position before the bar returns to the shoulders to complete the jerk.

A strict press or push press is NOT permitted.

The 2017 Floater WOD is Bike Race - A 5 minute AMRAP of calories on the Assault Bike. 

Each team member will have their own Assault Bike and will spend 5 minutes on it

WOD 3 - OVER UNDER

The 3rd workout of the 2017 Battle on the Border is Over Under - an 8 minute AMRAP of 40 double unders (80 single unders) and 40' overhead walking lunges (50/35; 35/20) 

Each partner will complete 40 double unders before completing 40' of synchronized walking lunges. Partners must hold the dumbbell in the same hand and lunge with the same leg on each step. The floor will be marked with four 5' increments and the partners will switch hands at the 20' mark. Failure to adhere to the standards of the overhead walking lunge will result in the partners being sent back to the last 5' increment.
