The Silver Comet 5k and Fitness Fest will take place on November 26th, 2022 with the first starting gun at 10:00am during Silver Comet Fest. All Early and Regular Registrations for both the 5k only and 5k & Fitness Fest will be guaranteed a T-Shirt. Make sure to register before November 6th to get the Early Bird Discount!
Come out and enjoy Silver Comet Trail Fest with the family and get in some fitness. There will be arts and craft vendors, food trucks, Rotary Duck race, Pet Parade and so much more for you to enjoy between events!
There are two options for this competition.
1) Sign-up and Run only the 5k. The 5k will start on Marble Street, which will be closed, turn down Church Street and back along Water Street to the Silver Comet Trail. The course will continue west to a turn around point and back east on the Silver Comet Trail, finishing along the Seaborne Jones Park spur of the trail. Age group and overall awards will be presented to the top athletes in each category. The 5k is open to all ages.
2)Sign-up and compete in the full 5k and Fitness Fest. The full Fitness Fest includes both the 5k and the three other events in the Fitness Fest (more on the individual events below). Points will be awarded according to your placement in each event. 1 Overall Male and 1 Overall Female will be crowned King or Queen of the Rock. The Fitness Fest is open to all participants 16 years of age or older. This event will be capped at 64 total athletes so register now to make sure you get to enjoy ALL the fun!

The Silver Comet 5k and Fitness Fest will include 4 events. Points will be awarded based on placement in each event on a 100 point descending scale. The Male and Female athletes with the most points at the end of the last event will be crowned King and Queen of the Rock.
Event 1: 5k Road/Paved Trail Run for Time
Event 2: DBall Throw for Distance. Each athlete will have 1:00 on the clock in a closed area with 3 Dballs, 50lbs for the men and 40lbs for the women. All throws will take place from behind the starting line. Your score will be recorded in distance of the farthest single ball from the starting line. You may retrieve and throw as many times as you would like in the 1:00.
Event 3: 500m Row for Time. In heats of 8, athletes will row 500m on the Concept 2 rower. Score in time, fastest time wins.
Event 4: Sandbag lift and carry. In this revolving style event, athletes will each have :30 to lift a sandbag to their shoulder, obtain control and walk the sandbag a distance. Weights will get successively heavier on each round. The beginning weights will be approachable to most, if not all athletes. The heaviest will challenge even the strongest competitors. When an athlete fails to complete the work in the :30 they will be out of the event. Score will be measured in weight of the heaviest successful sandbag both hoisted and carried.
